CD Projekt RED Is Skeptical Over AMD’s Mantle
Can’t tell that Mantle is good enough to adapt to different architectures!
CD Projekt RED, developers of the popular franchise, The Witcher has told that they are still having doubts about Mantle, developed by AMD as an alternative to Direct3D and Open GL.
In an interview with a popular Italian website, PC-Gaming, the company’s lead programmer Balázs Török shared his opinion about the AMD’s low-level API and The Witcher 3.
“If Mantle will be used by other GPU makers as well, it could become a viable alternative to DirectX in games,” Török said. “Until then, we can’t be say that it is good enough to adapt to different architectures.”
“If it’s not, then then it will be difficult to maintain different source codes for various GPUs,” he went on. “At the moment, it is something difficult to say something conclusive.”
