A Journey Through The Timeline Of 2013
The year 2013 has been a great year for gamers. So much has happened this year like every other year, but there are always some unforgettable moments that passed by everyone’s life. As gamers, we have seen games which were too good to be true and some of them which were a let down. 2013 is also a year which has hit our wallet hard. The call of the games is always hard to resist, but there were so many great games this year luring us into the world of virtual reality. And you just can’t resist the call of the next gen consoles unless you have a monster PC. So lets buckle up for the journey ahead, shall we?
The year started off with a bang, as Dante showed us some awesome swordplay as he slashed some demons in Limbo City. Then there was Dead Space 3 making us jump off our seats. It also gave us a chance to kick some alien ass with our friends. It was a good game with many new features but failed to give us the unexpected scare as some of them preferred the prequel.
Next up was the big hitter, Crysis 3 which was an absolute feast for the eyes. With Cry Engine 3 behind its back, Crysis 3 was a beauty with stunning graphics as always. It was about time the hunter got hunted. With new features in the multiplayer mode, it was exciting to hunt others down. The bow was cool which definitely packed a punch and caught my attention.
Then came the Tomb Raider, taking the series back to its roots, shaping Lara into hardened Croft. The story was gripping, showing us Lara’s past. It had beautiful graphics and awesome gameplay. It was one of the best games this year and it easily made its way into my favorite side.
There was also the Ascension of God of War, which was a delight for the God of War fans and PS3 gamers. BioShock Infinite made quite a name this year pleasing its vast group of fans. It also walked away with top honors at VGX 2013. There were also Metro Last Light, Call of Juarez Gunslinger which impressed many with its strong storyline. Especially Gunslinger taking you to the wild west and showcasing those awesome western duels.
Deadpool and Remember Me were among the new IP’s which caught some limelight. But some of the fans who were waiting for Watch Dogs were left disappointed, as they have to wait a little longer to hack into people’s lives.
But everything awesome turned up during the second half of the year. The mindless hours of fun doing crazy stuff came back with Saints Row IV which took reality one step further away from us. Once again there came a time when America depended on Sam Fisher to stop terror attacks. The Awesome stealth action gameplay of Splinter Cell Blacklist is one of the things to remember this year. It was its Co-op and multiplayer which won the hearts of the gamers.
September was where most of the excitement was. September started with Total War Rome 2 which was one of the let downs this year. One of the biggest releases this year was GTA V which ruled the month of September and basically made everyone, Everyone except PC gamers, lose their real life to virtual reality. Rockstar also piled up some huge cash with the release of GTA V as it became one of the fastest selling Video game ever. GTA Online was a whole new concept which was also a huge success for Rockstar. But too bad PC gamers did not get the chance to play bad ass in GTA V this year.
There was the usual match between FIFA 14 and PES 14 in which both the games fared well. Also Batman fans had something to cheer about as Arkham Origins was a great game.
There was the usual milking process of the Call Of Duty franchise by Activision as COD Ghosts ruled the UK Charts for 4 weeks straight. With the new found dog power the single player was great but COD Ghosts failed to show any major improvements in the graphics or multiplayer.
Battlefield 4, one of the best graphics game ever, was seen capturing gamers with its incredible and mind blowing graphics. But BF4 was on the bad side of the news many times due to its glitches and bugs giving gamers a hard time.
The Last of US also turned out to be one of the top performers this year. It became one of the best selling PS3 games, and easily made its way into gamers heart.
Ubisoft ended the year on a high note with Assassin’s Creed 4 giving gamers a chance to sail the Caribbean as pirates. AC 4 was awesome, beautiful and had everything you had wished for. With a whole new concept Ubisoft hit the Bulls Eye with AC4. It is the best game I’ve played this year and I had a bloody good time at sea.
There were also some great racing games this year like Gran Turismo 6, NFS Rivals. NFS Rivals was good with a bunch of new features letting racers play as both Cops and Racers.
But the ultimate attraction of 2013 were the Next Gen consoles. I guess pretty much of the Christmas gifts for gamers was Next Gen consoles. It was a fierce battle between Microsoft and Sony as Xbox One and PS4 fought it out for the console supremacy. The next gen consoles took gaming to a whole new level. Both PS4 and Xbox One sales crossed the 1 million mark in the first 24 hours. But PS4 emerged victorious in UK as it was the best selling console ever in UK. And PS4 is having the upper hand in the Christmas sales right now. Well the next gen consoles became the talk of the town towards the end this year as it pretty much brought the next gen experience in this generation only.
So it has been a great ride this year, venturing through the New York jungle, exploring the ancient tombs, taming the high seas, driving through the streets of Los Santos and having a great time with the next gen consoles. The time has come to bid adieu to 2013 and welcome the next Gaming year with a fat wallet.
